Just bought a mk4 escort van done up like an rs turbo van. It currently had a 1600 xr3i petrol engine in it looking for recommendations on the best engine to change it to, want something with more power also would I get away with just changing g the engine or would I need to change the gearbox as well. Thanks all in advance for any advice.

 

If it was me I'd build a 2.0 zvh with a nice carb or carbs but I'm very old fashioned! I expect a zetec would be the best modern option. I suppose there always the rs turbo route but I expect parts are expensive now.
