Hi All update on my Mondeo 2005 TDCi recently broke down engine cut out also lots of black smoke AA turned up read the codes came up with 401 changed EGR at a cost of £185 still smoked badly and difficulty starting , ended up piggy back home changed split turbo pipe still had problem would not start,
Traced the air pipe from EGR valve to MAF and found the pipe had twisted on the filter box shutting off the air supply to turbo must have twisted when changing the filter straightened that and first turn of the key fired up lots of smoke but cleared after a while shot of Forte turbo cleaner and drives superb
