Right, I've come across a Brazilian mk4 Escort that seems to use a 1.8 VW derived engine that looks like under the bonnet of a mk2 golf! Anybody shed any light on these cars?

My reason in asking is I built a mk2 golf with a 20v turbo engine and it flew! I happen to have a 20vT engine, and would love to pop it in a mk3/4 Escort. The 20v bolted right up to a mk2 Golf engine bay and mk2 Golf gearbox with no mods.

its a joint affair between ford and vw. Even the mk5/6 escorts have vw engines over there.
