Default f1 cars have lost there sound...

Not really been following the f1 this year but have it on now and the first thing I noticed was how awful the cars sound, they have really lost that iconic f1 sound

Yeah they are about 2-6 seconds a lap slower depending on the track,
Don't make much difference to us the viewers, but for the drivers they are to slow.

What was the reason behind this type of engine change?

Silly things like fuel efficiency, reliability, environmental impact

id rather them do a carbon ofset program and plant a tree each race and watch a few engines pop haha

That video above reminds me of the dog in the movie grown ups

The sound is not as good but the driving is much better with the current rules i.e less downforce + more torque = more sliding

WTF at the video.

The 2013 cars sound like proper racing cars, where as 2014 cars sounds like a space invaders game

Having heard an F1 car close up....am I the only one thinking the new cars are an improvement ?

The ear splitting screech from the old cars wasnt exactly very appealing, and the fact spectators need to wear ear defenders...surely that says something too ?

It might be ok for a couple of laps, but I'd dread to think of having to endure that screeching for 2 hours.

On TV the old cars sound loud, and it makes viewing a bit better, but they really were terrible in real life.

That's the only way to tell right, the f1 ass dyno?!? Or alternatively the use timing loops to work out the speed

The slowest f1 cars are going to be upper gp2 pace, this has always been the case in previous years too!

The cars are faster in a straight line (less downforce, more torque) and slower round corners (less downforce) than before

Some circuits they are almost as quick as before some about 2 seconds slower but race pace is a bit slower, mostly due to managing fuel vs performance, which is just like the old turbo days

Love the sound, love the cars having less grip, the racing has been very good this year.
