Seeing as i'm not going to be driving for a few years i feel i may aswell build myself something that i can enjoy for when i can drive!

Ideas started at Mk4 Escort, but can find a cheap enough bonus for sale thats a 3 door, would like a Mk4 Escort Van or a Mk2 Orion but there fetching outside my budget

Toying with the idea of a Mk6 Escort van as a customers has just died so i can probably grab it for buttons.

I love Minirotty's RS2K one, so whats the jist of whats involved, do i need a RS2K engine and complete loom, including dash loom? Whats the deal with the PATS system and so on.

I know Minirottys done it all but I can't be arsed sifting through the pages rather have some concrete answers and possibly some easier routes and advice if possible!

Either that or someone help me out with insurance and i'll go and buy a corsa

I don't want to just jump head first into something i have no idea about mate. Mechanical side of things piece of piss yeah, I'm assuming mounts and linkages etc are all straight swap. Electrics though is a whole different universe to me, i know things are not gonna be plug & play, but i'd at least like to know how far i'd have to go so i can maybe find a rotten RS2000 to rip apart or just find a breaker somewhere and grab what i can.

 

I've got an rs2k engine box and loom and aload of other bits lying about if there any got to you

 

I know it's none of my buisness but I'm intrigued to know why u can't drive for a few years. I got banned for 2 years once and built up a mk3 xr3i, was so tempted to drive it all the time though :-(

Can't insure anything for anything affordable. Brand new 2014 Corsa costs me Ł226 a month, then Ł260 a month for insurance, i'm just not that desperate to drive to put myself in a bad financial postion. My postcode is what causes the high prices i've never been able to insure anything for a decent price, hence needing someone to help me out with an address i can 'lend'

No classic insurers will put me on if i have convictions either so i'm fucked for a few years sadly.

Yeah seen the thread for that one last night when i had a little search, any advice before i get myself in a pickle or is it all pretty much straight forward

 

By far the easiest way is to find a rotten RS and swap it all over, the rest you can figure out as you go tbh.
