Basicly I have the heating on 28 degrees but some times the heater will just start blowing out cold air for so long eg 5 mins then I will just go back to normal.
Anyone know what this could be? The electronic heating control?

 

its probably the heater flap

if its pre 2003 then you can reset then but if its post then you can't

 

Isn't there situations where its supposed to do that in order to keep the temp inside the car constant?

 

It's a 54 plate mate and it'll do it even when I first start it up and leave it running for 5 mins, it'll just stay freezing cold then just come on full whack?

 

mine does it too, unless you put it on full hot it tends to vary between lukewarm and fairly hot

it only started doing this after the thermostat broke so it could be something to do with a reset on the auto climate control system but this only seems to be applicable to the pre facelift cars with the round dial/button configuration rather than the later ones with no reset on them

 

It must be facelift too mate as mines doing it. How would you reset it then or is it just impossible? Could it be thermostat?

if you can't read the site then this is what it says:

With the ignition switched on to position 2, on the E(A)TC module, PRESS the "OFF" and "FOOTWELL" buttons simultaneously very briefly, then PRESS "AUTO" within 1.5 seconds.
The self-diagnosis which then starts lasts a few seconds. An animated display appears in the E(A)TC display during this time. Any faults found are displayed in the form of trouble codes. Example: First of all, "93" flashes for 2 seconds, then "42" flashes for 2 seconds - DTC 9342. If no faults are stored, then all of the segments in the display are actuated.
Diagnosis mode can be stopped at any time by PRESSING any button on the E(A)TC module.
Note: If the "DEFROST" button is pressed to end the diagnosis mode, all DTCs in the fault memory will be deleted!

B1200 Any button of the air conditioning system Button jammed/stuck
B1242* Air recirculation flap: fault in the circuit Open circuit/short circuit
B1251 Interior temperature sensor: open circuit Check the wire and the sensor
