speedo speed quite possibly, factor in a 10% error factor and it would equate to a real proper 150mph. Pretty plausible, my tweaked A4 has seen just shy of 155mph on the clocks.

My bog standard Octavia VRS hit 150mph gps on the private road so that's plausible IMO provided he's running 260 ish bhp

Mmmmm I think hes full of shit.my 2.0 tfsi quattro running stage 2 map bastuck system ind kit etc tops out about 150 and at that speedu run out of road very very quickly. I don't know of anywhere near me he'd hit that speed
And apparently there's a full car of witnesses making it even less likely I would have thought you'd need 320 bhp plus to hit those kinds of speeds

Well a focus RS does 163mph with realistically under 300bhp so I guess the golf is more slippery, I say it's plausible but realistically it's bullshit given what you said about roads.

He will believe that & thats all that matters. Put timing gear on it & it would be short of 150mph but he & most others wont do that so its a 168mph car .

Well the Mk5 R32 had 247bhp and was limited to 155mph. So it's feasible it could get near to 168mph depending on what engine/power.

Long enough road, slight downhill gradient and your on to a winner... I think 168 is a little ambitious. We r talking 170mph here, which is fast, very fast! But 150/160mph can easily be had in a stock Mk2 Focus RS with 300bhp, so an extra 8mph might just be doable?!

Well my car has 120bhp and is limited to 300mph so must be able to do it (not a dig at you)

I love this limited BS spouted by car companies as some sort of agreement, sure some big power cars can easily top those speeds, and to begin with it was a good idea, now it just seams to be an marketing speel, one mate took his R32 to a private test track, flat out on GPS wouldnt pull any faster it was at 143. on the speedo it was 155.

Yes it was fast, but no it wasnt what the manufacturer stated in the marketing BS

Limited to 155 then as stated, the fact is it's limited to a clock 155 as opposed to a genuine 155 as it is easier and cheaper to record and lock.

Same as my Peugeot van fleet are limited to 56mph. On the clocks it is right on the money at 56mph, on my GPS speedo it's actually 52/53mph

Of course it depends on Power. It would take 27.3% more Power to increase Topspeed from 155 to 168mph.

Its not ambitious its just plain BS . been to many events & watched a 400bhp Cossie fail to reach a real 170mph after 40secs & 1.5 miles on the throttle. Yet they reach 180 on the B2741 on the way to the Chippie .

More Brunters bollox, plenty of straight roads longer than 1.5 miles, so it's more than feasible cars go to Brunters and don't hit what they do on the m40

By the way I have the black skoda using Tesco petrol and second gear only top speed world record up my road so beat that nothing you say means anything if you can't beat that

Love the way you say more brunters bollox I think that statement is total bollox lol and you only spout it as you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about it lol
It's the uk's so called bench mark for really fast road cars it's flat it's straight and yes it's 1.5 miles any car that can do over 180 there is rather impressive any thing can do over 190 is a very very very fast in gear road car! So all in all brunters is a good test point!!!!!

You miss the point totally because you always pop on to brown nose your mate

It's only the benchmark for those interested in top speed and confined by 1.5 miles

Almost all cars will go faster on the road than brunters due to the length limit at brunters so the sight of owners turning up and not achieving a speed seen on the private road officer is not unlikely is it?? Or are you too blinded to see that and too desparate to argue?!?!

What bollox lol so cars that can do over 180 odd mph at brunters will do more on the busy public road lol yeah ok. And I'm not saying brunters is an out and out top speed track it's just what we have in the uk so just learn to deal with it mate lol

I'll make it simple seeing as youre being such a dickhead, some cars will take longer than the space available at brunters to reach v max, or do you think evey car you see at brunters has hit the limiter in top gear before they slam on the brakes and fail to make the bend at the bottom?!

You dont need to make anythink simple I'm fully aware of that just makes me laugh how you be little every thing to do with brunters!
But back on track still highly un likely the car did a real 168 mph!

Fact is you're wrong pal, plenty of cars will do more on the open road than in a space restricted runway. So deal with being wrong, put it in your blinkered brown nosed shit pipe and smoke it

And I'm in no way blinkered I no cars will go faster on longer roads but did you realise that there will still be a point in which it will not go any faster?

No I thought given a long enough road all cars will accelerate for ever and start time travelling

You can also note that my post at 9.34 yesterday declared the claim of the golf to be bullshit

On topic, is it an Edition30 Golf??

With a couple of very basic tweaks, they're proper punchy wee things.

Ex gf has an Edition 30 with Revo 280hp/300+ ft/lb, pretty rapid for a 'boring' VW

Whether it'd do 168mph on the clock, I don't know.

I moved out 3yrs ago.

claimed top speed for standard one with 230ps is 152mph

As we all know Rods cars gearing is optimised for top speed at Brunters, other cars are not as they aren't trying to achieve the 'world record' top speed for a white saph in the confines of a 1.5 mile runway in England on a Tuesday morning

Anymore pointless observations?

I'm not forgetting anything you dullard, I keep telling you that most road cars will not max rpm their biggest gear inside a 1.5 mile straight (especially as they have to leave braking room!!!) but you don't seem to get this

Take a standard ish hot hatch to Brunters and see for yourself if you get near to pulling its vmax, you won't get it to the rpm it is capable of in top gear , I know for a fact my car won't hit 150 at Brunters but it will on my private test track (m40) because I am not restricted by space.

There are very few cars that will do their absolute v max on a 1.5 mile runway
