As title , I have been looking through my workshop manual Vol 1-2 for a Sierra Mk1 Cosworth(3 Door) and cannot find the standard King Pin inclination figures , can anyone shed some light on this?
Or has anyone got any wheel alignment printouts that state KPI along with included angle which is the sum of kPI and Camber.


I really need this info, please take some time and help.

Can't help on actual figures but surely this is set by the hubs and not adjustable, or am I over simplifying it?

Fraser9764 This is as you say not adjustable but on my wheel alignment readout I have KPI 14 degrees 02 minute positive on the left side and 7 degrees 52 minutes positive on the right side!
So I am trying to find out the correct angle and also what would cause this, - whats bent?

Dont forget as youre running a macpherson strut that the top mount will have the potential to drastically effect it.

In theory it could be bent TCA, bent hub, bent strut, worn ball joint, worn TCA inner bush or worn topmount. Or if youre really unlucky, bent subframe or bent shell.

 

Ill have a look on autodata for ya in a bit. See if it says on there.

Yes I had a look at a garage on Auto data with no luck, the only thing that's left is for someone to post their printouts of 4 wheel alignment? Anyone got one for a three door??

Im assuming that the casor and camber readings were correct, and just the kpi that is out, which would point to the other bits being ok,

can you post the rest of your results? Did the wheel alignment place not give you any ideas?

 

Yes everything else seems ok-

Left Camber -2 degrees 08 mins
Right Camber-2 degrees 0 mins.

Left Castor 2 degrees 32 mins
Right Castor 2 degrees 40 mins

It's only the kPi that differs the left one(14 degrees 02 mins) looks as I believe a 3 door standard wheel should tucked under the arch and the right one 7 degrees 52 mins KPI looks further out and more in line with arch.
My next step is to change the struts and right spindle (Hub carrier) the alignment people think this might be an issue.
But I really need to know what the standard KPI for a 3 door is I have seen a couple of printouts for a sapphire cos and it seems the KPI is 15 degrees odd so you would think that my Left at 14 degrees odd is closer to the truth than 7 degrees 52mins!
Need 3 door info!

have you checked your tca's are both cosworth ones? the standard base model mk1 tca is slightly shorter but fits all the same with the cosworth hubs etc
