I've got my engine and its 100% a 1.6 zetec silvertop from a 98 escort. How easy to drop in? Can I keep sump n water pump etc? Just drop in mod a mount and exhaust and use Rst LSD box do some wiring and that's it?

No you need an efi flywheel as you need a timing pickup, you need it whatever zetec you use, also the bolt holes need drilling out as zetec bolts are slightly bigger, you need the rst clutch as you need to use the cvh flywheel and box, you could use a zetec box im sure but you will need to fab mounts and maybe driveshafts

The engine is efi mate? And I ain't doing it for quickness, just want a nice little zetec that's a bit better than the ovh 1.3 carb engine, I only paid Ł60 for engine box ecu loom n keys. But I'm 99% I can just use 1.6 clutch fly wheel n Rst box

yes so you need a timing pickup for the ecu which is on the flywheel, which you have to change to the cvh efi one as you have to use the cvh box, the zetec flywheel is much meatier unit so the clutches are not interchangeable
Yeah either one as long as its a efi 3i one, you can use most cvh clutches but as escort rs turbo ones are largest they will be better and last longer and not much difference in price, im not sure on a diesel clutch but you can use the mk4 diesel box, 3i box, you can even use a ka1.3 box which is actually stronger and has a rear starter

It's just that my mate said I can have his diesel box 50 quid, and if it would bolt straight onto the engine n clutch I'd do that.
It's never going to be powerful so that won't matter.
Also when I dropped an rs2000 mk5 engine in one of my escorts I used a zetec 1.6 flywheel for pickup and an Rst box and that was fine mate. I'm getting confused why this wouldn't be the same mate lol

Because a rs2k engine ain't a zetec lol, the box would bolt on just make sure you check its off a mk4 so your cradle bolts up, can't see how a zetec flywheel and clutch would work on a cvh box tho tbh

Tbh mate thinking back I may have got the zetec fly n actually not used it, it was a few years back lol. I think I might of used cvh fly, can't remember haha. I'm just gonna get the 1.8 diesel box from a 96 escort van I think. Will be easier lol
You can use the 1.6 or 1.8 flywheel and clutch. Done it before

I thought the s2 Rst clutches and the 1.6 zetec clutches were both 220mm? This is where I'm getting lost now lol and thought the 1.8 n 2.0 flywheels were bigger?

Engine and box is all sorted
. All standard cvh mounts are bolted on engine n box. I ended up keeping the 1.6 zetec gearbox which meant no probs with clutches or fly wheels
. It's a rear starter but that's not a problem. The cvh engine mount bolts straight onto top bolts just need the mount hole at bottom moving over now.
just two little bits to weld on mounts and a shorter belt putting on as removed power steering pump.
Ill try n get some pics up

The plan was to get a 1.8 and I went and bought it but when I got home after a 2 hour drive it turned out it was a 1.6. I just want something a bit better than the 1.3 4 speed carb engine I have now lol.
If it turns out I want something more beasty ill drop one in in the future
at least all mounts n pipes etc will be right by then lol

There are some pics, n the bits I need get welded. Only query I have is oil filter? Looks like it could foul on brake bias valves?? Anybody know about this?
Right sorry bud I have mid informed you, you can use the 1.6 flywheel but they weigh nearly twice the amount of the cvh one, which would help your little 1.6 zetec rev much more freely
