Default knocking/clunking driveline.

Car is giving me problems when its been driven for around a hour or more, when setting off the front end can clunk, steering is often heavier in one direction, including upto 20mph (ish)

The wheels crab when maneuvering into parking spaces too.

Gearbox was rebuilt last year with a 2nd hand lsd.

Come to think of it it was doing this on way back from fordfair 2012 and we thought it was the offside outer cv joint, I replaced this with a good used item and never really thought about it again as the car was in bits for the zetec conversion for months.

So in reality I'm happy that the cv joints are ok, plus I now have 2 new joints to fit at some point.

Has anybody encountered anything like this before?

The problem only occurs when the car is used for a while, if I get in it from stone cold it will be fine for a good hour or so, I'm thinking it could be some sort of gearbox problem.

I was thinking LSD, the fluid/gel gets hotter the longer you drive it, never experienced it myself though, or maybe a sticking caliper?

As your now Zetec, drop a 1.3 Ka box in with an LSD, fit a clutch master cylinder, job done!

My gearbox has been doing this but only in reverse since i fitted it years ago, i think its the LSD as its the only "un-tested" part of the rebuilt gearbox. The wheel try to lock up when reversing...
