Basicaly i can not make my mind up, i have everything bar the pistons for a forged cvh (sold my accrilite ones to go to a lower comp)
but as i was thinking about replacing them, this will be around £500+
i got thinking about doing a st170 zvh and sell my cvh block and rods ect
just looking to hear peoples thoughts on what they would go for as i can see good and bad points on both set ups.
Currently have
OFAM ECU (MS based ecu)
Focus RS Injectors
Big Valve head, ported and polished with matching inlet, 285T2 cam with adjusable pully
stage 3 T3
and a undecided bottomend at the mo, my aim is 300bhp

Did debate full 16v only thing stopping me is the fact i have all freshly rebuilt cvh bits but then again i could always sell it all lol

My Zvh is a properly speced one and it pulls like a train awesome bit of kit! And it still looking a like a RS turbo when u open the bonnet!
Something special about a 8v head mate ok 16 probably more reliable and cheaper blah blah RS turbos where built with a 8v head so keep it that way

so got that too fit and just have running for a bit then go ofam later.
you will need to have a blast when its done to see what i mean with zetec turbos, they just seem effortless on the road and fly

to be honest i would stick with a cvh if you could buy a camkit that doesnt eat its self in 5 mins and a oil pump off the shelf that works
£300 for a cam kit and its a total gamble if its going to work and the only oil pumps that dont fail are genuine ford and they have stopped selling them
a bloke on here wants £300 for one and you could build a zvh bottom end using st170 bottom end for that, but while your there because the cams are a lottery might aswell drop the 16v head on
if a car is mfi and its working, leave it, they are lovely cars upto 200bhp when they are working correctly
Depends on how u want the car mate.....now am not a fan standard looking s2s ie wheels etc....but zetec just don't look right in the bay...so it's cvh or zvh for me..no few boys running decent power thru cvh if built and managed properly...

I think all round then 16v is going to be the best option for me at the moment at least if I want more power in the future it's going to be a better base.
Ill need to start making a list of bits to buy and get my cvh bits shifted.

Pm me if you need and I will write up a list for a good 250/300bhp budget builds that "work"
I've got to agree with the above. ST170 bottom end with a black top head, I believe (ask Karlos or mark above) the black top head is a direct fit. I also have several base maps for that which you could try.

Ill be going st170 bottom end and blacktop head.
Ill buy a 170engine and think I have a blacktop head at home already in the garage somewhere. I'm looking to get a minimum of 300bhp really and I have a new OFAM ecu ready to go.

Make a drivable package
Not read all of this
So u will just ask
What gearbox are you using? With this level if power I would sort your gearbox before anything else

I have the below CVH turbo engine might interested:
CVH Turbo with:
Lightened and balanced crank.
ACL racing bearings crank and rods.
Custom made main bolds from aircraft L19 ALLOY (280,000 KSI), the std ARP rates at 180,000 ksi...
PEC forged steel 4340 con rods.
Wiseco forged 7.5:1 piston kit.
Cosmetic triple metallic layer head gasket.
Custom made head bold from aircraft L19 alloy (280,000 ksi).
Stage 4 head fully ported in gas flowed machine with big steel valves intake and exhaust.
Completely new valve train everything new.
Double valve springs.
Mechanical lifters.
Piper 285T2 cam.
Adjustable cam gear Piper.
Rsi aluminum head cover.
Custom made aluminum intake with all the necessary parts (idle valve etc...).
80mm throttle bodies anodized with the std throttle position sensor installed.
Engine block almost new with 4.500 miles and 0 wear.
New std but lightened flywheel.
Metallic "with 6" pad clutch with new bearing.
Sachs heavy duth pressure plate.
Crank-pulley-flywheel-clutch have been balanced together.
RS2000 MT75 gear box with low mileage opened-examined and 100% perfect working order (this is used part).
Quaife ABT differential.
Rs2000 axles no worn 100% perfect working order (this is used part).
RS2000 Gearbox mount and gearbox shifter repaired we new parts 100% perfect working order (this are used parts).
New gaskets of course.
Motorsport oil pump.
New water pump.
Belt with tensioners.
Every metal (engine-turbo-manifold-gearbox etC....) has been Cryogenic treatment, this a process known to racing
teams. This treatment eliminates all the defects of the metals especially the molten metals.
EVERYTHING IS NEW-THE ENGINE NEVER TURNED ON 0 MILE 0 HOURS (O SECONDS...)
