Should i swap?
Thinking of swapping my mk4 xr3i cab for a xr2i 1.8 16v
Trouble is ive spent a fortune on my 3i runs, full rebuild and is completly solid.
Always wanted a 2i though. I no it'll be alot quicker and handle better etc but dosnt bother me too much.
Anyone owned a 2i?

Keep what you've got. You could be starting from scratch in terms of problems.
Sounds like yours is up together.
I had a Pacifica blue XR2I and it was pretty pants tbh

I'd keep the 3i you know it's history already & what little bits if anything you need to do to it where as the fiesta could be opening up a whole new can of worms.
I'd always wanted a 2i so when one came up local I had to have it granted it was only a cvh engined one but it never quiet felt "right" compared to an escort so I moved it on after a couple of months.

Put the 1.8 16v in the cabby as realistically that's the only improvement over the 3i.
Plus they rust way more than the cabs so IMO stick with what you've got, they weren't bad motors at all but really nothing special.
As much as they get maligned drive a saxo VTS 16v then the fiesta and it would be like night and day, quicker, better handling, less rusty and you'll see why the 2i 16v never really caught on.
Turbo new ball game as they were nippy and have the "history" as well.

keep your mk4, dont think mk3 fiestas are as good as all these fiesta owners make out, yea they are like a small go kart, but you can wack coil overs on a mk4 cabby and thatll be like a train on rails too, the 1.8 zetec in a fiesta isnt powerfull atall in weight comparison imo and tbh at i guess id say the mk4 cabby wouldnt weigh a hell of alot more unless the fiesta has lost weight through its usual rust issues, if your mk4 cab has all been done by you as said above you could be wasting your time and be opening another tin of worms getting the fiesta, id keep your mk4 if i was you
I have been in fiesta ownership for 20+ years now....... and I still get out with a smile on my face, due to fun factor.... Simply a joy to drive down country lanes.... be very choosy though, and if you have any questions I'll answer them if I can!
