Default What max power to expect from the escort Rs turbo t3?

Have an efi engine running the t3, I have all forged internals, bought ofam ecu, and have Siemens deka 60lb injectors ready to go on. I've told my tuner I want to run about 21 psi. I'm sure I've heard somewhere t3 can make about 280? As far as I know it's a standard t3.
I don't really want to spend any money on an upgraded t3 as the remap is going to cost me £350 and I don't have lots of ££££ :-(
Any help will be appreciated thanks

standard T3 will be screaming it's tits off much over 200 bhp if it even goes that high

AFAIK, It's not boost, it's flow you need

It might not be standard, I can't remember what it was when I got engine. I know it was running 234 at 21 psi but I had it remapped when I put it all in my car and dropped boost to 14 psi. It was running 205.7 I have printout but that was on beige injectors. I now have better injectors as the the original 234 was on its limits on the injectors it had. So hopefully I can get at least 250-270? Maybe the t3 is stage 2-3 I don't know? Lol

Stock .36/45 will do 190bhp, stage 2 .36/50 will do 230bhp, stage 3 .48/55 will do 300bhp.

234 bhp @ 21psi (assuming that is held not peek) points to it being stage 2, a stage 3 at that boost will be 250bhp+

Cheers mate so it's got to be at least stage 2 maybe 3 with some luck I got in touch with c r turbos as my original plan was a t34 but they said it will be no good and just to put a 360 thrush bearing in etc upgrade my t3 for around £600 mark?

£600 Should see you a Stage 3, in which case the power was a little low for 21psi (again if that was held to the limiter rather than peek).

Depends what cam and weather it has a fully ported head to reach top figures, 234bhp would be nearing the limit of a standard head?

What's full spec of engine?

Cam and head work do make a difference but it's not massive, the .36 housing for example will be the limiting factor up to 230bhp.
A stock head and cam will flow for around 250bhp.

Thats the compressor AR.

Bieges would not do any where near 21psi on a Stage 3 T3, unless maybe you were running 10 bar fuel pressure?! lol

yes, its the exhaust housing and compressor that's different between a stage 2 and stage 3 t3.

so assuming it has a .36 ex housing it could be std or stage2. my stage 3 has 42 on the compressor housing but has the 60 trim compressor bigger ex housing.

The only thing you can tell by looking is the exhaust housing size as it will either have .36 or .48 stamped on it, compressor side you'd need to remove the housing and measure the wheel.

I have a stage 3 on my car, std compression and altho a little laggy it comes in with a mega punch, alot more so than the standard t3 i ran before.
I currently run it at around 1.2/1.3bar, hoping to see a genuine 200bhp!

You should see 200 bhp if mine has shouldn't you? I have print out too I just want a bit more, I'd be happy with 250 and some decent tires

scan and post the rr print out, the torque curve and the way it delivers the power will help show what spec turbo you have

Not if they didn't hook up an RPM probe and just used the rev counter, could easily be 1k out, or used the wrong mode and so the engine wasn't loaded up properly, etc.

Always interesting to see a graph though!

If that's accurate then it's very late.

sounds to me like its a big boy stage3 on a low comp bottom end, most likely its got an uprated cam that has not been dialed in correctly too

just setting up a cam on mine made a massive difference to repsonse with the same turbo

Any reason he sprayed wd40 on the rollers whilst my car was on? And would that be the reason the kept spinning on the rollers?
Or is that just cos I need some decent tires? Lol

TBH those graphs are next to useless, but if the torque is accurate then it isn't a stage 3 T3, not enough torque and it falls pretty quickly after peeking.

I've had standard t3 turbos with -31 piss 200lbs at around 180/190bhp

Another I had was 215bhp 223lbs on stage 3 t3

And 231bhp and 253lbs stage3 t3 nms modded metering unit

All on 1600cvh on mfi with correct supporting mods

You sure it's a genuine garrett turbo, could be a copy

I don't know tbh it came with engine I bought two years ago. I'm pretty sure it's genuine. Is it worth buying a stage 3 t3 and keeping this as a spare? What about a t34? I've seen people use these on 1600cvh and achieve around 280 300? What's best?

What about a reconditioned cosworth 4x4 stage 3 t3 turbo with cut back blades and 360% thrust bearing (modified bolted down type) race staggered rear oil seal, new bearings, and seals. What would that do for me?

Best turbo to use is a cos turbo, do not get a t34 unless you want over 300bhp it's over kill and too laggy, the car would be quicker with a stage3 t3 running flat out with 30/40bhp less

Cut back blades slow down response too, when I researched it every tuner I spoke to said run a 2wd cosworth turbo rebuilt with 360 bearings and would flow a genuine 270bhp and be a lot more responsive than a stage 3 t3

Plus it may say on the net that a stage3 t3 will flow 280bhp but in over 10years of being in the ford scene I've never seen a 1600cvh get near it with one fitted, only ever on a zetec turbo

They make more like 250/ 260 at a push and isn't as responsive as a standard 2wd t3

I got a mint 4x4 t3 for £150 for my zt

Ok cheers mate he wants 400 for it or 350 with my turbo. Is that a good price, no warranty though as he said depends on how it's used . I've messages him now.
I think it's best to get a better turbo before I put my bigger injectors and new ecu on, and then get it all done at once?
Cheers
