Default Brake question puzzle for you all...... solved... I'm an idiot.

Can you turn a servo upside down?

As on my van the inlet pressure pipe is on the wrong side, so I turned it upside down.

But, the brake wont bleed up at all!

I have changed to another rez and servo still the same, I thought all was in the servo was a spring, being upside down wouldnt matter would it???

not sure weather to source a RS on where the pip is on correct side or get an easy blled kit.

Whats your thoughts?

Thanks, Kev.

I wouldnt of thought it would make a difference really Kevin.
Are you bleeding the master first?
How are you bleeding it pressure bleed kit?
Pumping method?

the servo doesn't have anything to do with the hydralic side of it it purely acts as an amplifier/booster, so it shouldn't make any differance to bleeding it

If the cylinder is old and you have tried bleeding it manually the seals have gone past there normal piston movement into a corroded part(end of pedal) and prob folded back on themself if you understand what i mean but you have tried another reservior you can't have 2 knacked ones?

How about the compensator valve on the rear?

Nope not sure what ya mean lol

Have replaced both rez and servo today from a working car.

The comp valve on the back dont look to healthy but thats for weight isn't it?

I have been bleeding the brakes with all wheels on the floor and gettign plenty of fluid through each pipe when peddaling.

ok your master is a cylinder with seals in it. when bled your brake stroke will be say only 1/3 of pedal travel. so only 1/3 of cylinder is being used now if the fluid in the system is contaminated with moisture the other 2/3 of the cylinder could be corroded.
So when u bleed system manually you pedal to floor using all cylinder passing seals into a possible dodgy area where the seal could get damaged.
Hadthis many years ago on a metro

better?

Yes mate, make sense now but I have used new fluids and changed cylinder and servo, so wouldn't be that.

Are you bleeding it with the cap off the master cylinder?ive seen garages doing this and getting stuck all day so it's not just a schoolboy error, quite common.
Never had any joy with a pressure bleeder nor this bleed the back first nonsense, just try one at a time from the front you should be fine.
This methods never failed me on any car.

that is the correct way, as mentioned above about the master being pushed too far and turning the seals, that is more common than you would think. is the pushrod for the master cylinder adjustable like on mk4 escorts? if so it may be an adjustment issue giving you a poor pedal

When you loosening the nipples off is the fluid coming out with a bit of pressure or is the fluid trickleing out.

Different every time Glenn tbh

I have used Daves (Wizizat114)'s Eaziblled today and no difference

I think I must have a pressure problem, losing it etc as the fluid will come through all pipes just wont creat pressure on the peddal.

Losing my will with it tbh.

Explain what you mean by wont bleed ? You're pishing fluid through it to no end, or you cannot get any fluid through it ?

And exactly how are you trying to bleed it ? And was the system bone dry when you started ?

I have been going at this van like a bull in a china shop trying to keep my mind occupied for a complete week now since losing my rotty, Chaos.

That seems to have been my problem, I made a school boy error and didn't even spot it untill today.

I had fitted the rear callipers upside down to the bleed nipple was at the bottom, I know the correct way they shpuld be fitted, just with all the rushing I didn't once notice!

Propper stupid thing to do but, we're all humen eh.

All working now.
