Default De-catted my TDCI, now ready for Re-map!!

Well today I de-catted my 05 Mondeo TDCI. I am most impressed with myself as have only ever changed an oil filter, oil and air filter in the past 22 years of driving and using a very old trolley jack and a few house bricks I went to work trying my best with my tools!

I got the Cat off and smashed all the honeycomb stuff out of it with a bar and hammer! I made sure it was gleaming clean inside the Cat so all good. Put everything back together and took her out for a test drive. Could not tell any great performance difference only that she seems to be more free revving through the gears......I was expecting a big change in performance?

So now she has been de-catted, new fuel filter (although the housing that held the fuel filter on has broken clips to fuel filter now supported as well as I could with cable ties.....It seems fairly sturdy) A new OE air filter......Now time to get her booked in for a Re-map......Hoping I should see a performance change from that?!

My tddi fiesta has egr blanked. Hollow cat like you done and that made a huge difference. a cone filter made it sound cooler too. I need a intercooler and remap next.

You have described pretty much what I would have expected. It does give a freer revving engine. You may notice it more eager too generally.

You do realise you could of sold the cat for Ł100 and bought a proper decat and pocketed the change?

Just decatted my 320d tonight and smashed the guts out of the 2nd cat. Can hear the turbo whistle much louder now and seems to go up the revs a lot faster and smoother!
