Default 1st road rally car

What would you get. Here's your criteria:
1. 4 cylinder engine, no more
2. Has to be natually aspirated
3. If its a 16 valve, the standard injection system must remain (inlet, throttle body and fuel injectors)
4. 8 valve engines can be run on carbs, but only 2 chokes (1 twin twin choke or a pair of splits)
5. 16 valves must have fuel injection
6. No flared wheelarches and the interior must remain

What would you pick? Gona save up for my 1st one once I regain strength, also want it to be cheap to run and maintain, and handle well out of the box.

Yes, suspension is free (I think, as long as everything stays in the same place anyway). Brakes are free, wheels are free provided they fit in the original arches, tyres need to be e marked, body colour must remain as factory, no sponsor liveries, but stripes are permitted if they were there from factory, like mk1 rs2000s.

Yes suspension can be modified. And brakes. IMO I thinkaa satria gti or a wira for the simple reason they are an evo in disguise aha. What you thinkin greg? Saving up for one?? If so i wanna do an event in it too (hint hint)

Excuse the ignorance, but is this where you go point to point, but can't go faster than the set time?
Reason I ask, is that you don't necessarly need a particularly fast / powerful engine? Sorry if I'm being thick here?!

Haha yeah. Time for you to flog the fezza then?aand the drystone, mercian, or a welsh event as i wouldn,t mind an experience of one of them. Also get a 1.6 or more satria as anything under is gutless

Not being thick at all, you cannot average more than 30mph. But you'll struggle to do it on most sections, cause the oraganisers will send you down the tightest and twistiest road with checkpoints on them (where you have to stop and get a signature), they'll also make you go through farm yards, quarries, sand mines, scrap yards, etc. Whatever they can, so you'll never manage 30 over them (not all the time anyway). So you go as quick as you can (making sure you are on the right road obviously), and basically its whoever picks up the least penalties wins (the ods of anyone being penalty free are pretty much 0)

They've banned that Nath, but ye up untill 1988 they screwed the cklocks big time, very clever it was, there were sections were crews would average 90mph on very fast sections and still be late!

Civic VTi would be pretty decent id imagine.

French hot hatches wouldn't be a bad choice either

Good suggestions. Cheers peeps. Supose I could do what the fronrunners in the welsh do and get a 4 door escort, and then put £35k on turning it into a group 4.....
