The gt3071 is a good choice, you gain a small amount down the bottom, a bit of mid range torque and a bit of power up top, all round a better turbo I wouldn't go gtx though personally

To do 450bhp on a GT28 series you'd have to go for the GT2876R IMO. The compressor map suggests it will support it and the good news is that they run an Inconel exhaust wheel which lends itself nicely to your ALS/LC! I've not personally experienced one back to back with a RB T38 on a YB so can't comment on the drivability, but if its anything like the GT2860RS, it will need a custom oil return to work with the 4WD manifold.

I havnt had much experience with the big gt28 kev, although I'm led to beleive the biggest gt28 runs the gt3071 comp wheel with a smaller exhaust wheel, which IMO isn't a great idea, the gt3071 exhaust wheel is suited perfectly to its comp wheel.

Thanks Jim, after a bit of research it'll be a GT3071r I'll fit, if I change lol.

gt3071r will be a good choice, i've just fitted one to my zetec turbo engine, pulls very well indeed, not particularly laggy either.
next up would be a gtx3076r, about the same lag, but more power.

gt28 would be struggling up at 450bhp

Have you had any experience with the ftx3076?
There's a big jump in lag between a gt3071 and a gtx3076, the latter is a 600bhp turbo!

Not sure why but the Audi boys do not rate the GTX3076 at all, there is apparently a better variant of it.

however the gt3076 is only marginally laggier than the gt3071r, so one would assume given the lower lag on a gtx wheel will overcome this and give great improvement on power.
the gtx3076r is only a 600bhp turbo when you're at 2.5BAR though, at 2BAR it's more of a 500bhp turbo.
exhaust housing plays a big part too, so that needs to be a factor too.

At 2.2 bar boost it is 590/600bhp turbo, (on a tial exhaut housing which drastically improves back pressure)

Johnny it's not just the Audi world, I don't rate the gtx turbos all that highly with the work we have done with them, deffinately better turbos out there.

Kev you should see Iain to get a shot in my old car , it is similar spec to yours but with slightly lower comp. I was very impressed with the GT3071 it spooled better than my old T34.

Depends who's mapping it, as id always say go with their advise but we don't use the anti surge housing, I know others do though.

I got mine from Vince at CR Turbos Kev.
The one I had used a machined out .63 style cosworth exhaust housing so it was a straight bolt on as far as exhaust goes. It isnt the best as far as back pressure but since I wasnt planning on doing alot of top speed or track work I worked out well for me.

Even the ones that bolt on easily are still a pain in the ass as far as the oil drain goes when using a 4wd manifold.
