Default Fuel tank repair

Got a bit of a problem with the fuel tank on my bike seems to have developed a bit of a leak from one of the seams.
Does anyone know if it can be repaired because its gonna cost a fortune for a new one.

Only thing am worried about with welding is I weld it and have it painted then it leaks somewhere else.
The bike isn't that old either it's only an 03 with 8k miles on it

I work in a car parts accessory shop, we sell a product called POR 15. its a range of anti rust type gear. They do a kit call "Motorcycle fuel tank repair kit" sell heaps of them as most of our bikes/cars are old! only get good feed back from customers. Im very sure i have seen uk mags reviewing the POR products so will be available to you im sure.
