Default Oil pumps

When i had my engine rebuilt a few months back i couldn't get hold of a genuine oil pump so ended up getting a burton hp pump . I know i know they are crap and its been bugging me for ages now so ive managed to finally find a genuine one at good money

Now my question is , do i really need a high pressure oil pump ? And is it really worth faffing about with a brand new genuine oil pump if theres no real point ?

Thanks

Ross

i would just use the gen ford pump bud i had a burton pump and it ruined a rebuilt engine.
iirc the burton pumps are just standard after market pumps with a different relief spring i could be wrong but id put the gen ford on

Your guess is as good as mine mate , some people say they havent had any bother with them but others say they have had engine failure due to the pump . Not sure if it was the pump at fault or who fitted it though ! So rather than wreck my new engine on an £80 pump id rather bin it and get a new genuine ford one

Fair enough mate. See how I get on, was the only place I could find a HP pump as I'm running a 13 row cooler aswell.
