note the BBS split rims genuine Porsche, lovely, not a bad car clutch is a bit heavy!

The 944 was the poor mans porsche, the 924 was a vw hash lol, the point i make is that if i wanted a 911 i'd buy one, so to me this 986 is not a poor mans version and thats not me being arrogant, i live in a poor mans house lol.
I think the only people who think of a boxster as a poor mans 911 really are people who miss the point of a really sweet handling mid engined chassis and havent driven one.
In many ways they are actually a more fun car to drive, the modern 911's manage to go round corners despite their ludicrous layout just because they are so well engineered and developed now they handle well despite that, but the boxster is just a naturally well setup car.
I think the way to look at them is to ignore that there are other porsches and just look at the boxster on its merits as a car and I think it has plenty.
If you ignore the hairdresser image, there really isnt much not to like about them.
You still got the v6 clio phil?

I really like Boxsters... they're pretty under rated because of their bigger brother, which keeps values reasonable. I would definitely consider one, along with a Honda S2000 if I wanted a soft top 2 seater.

Thumbs up from me, ive had a few go's in a 2000 3.2s. They look and sound nice, they go pretty well and they handle superbly...
I wonder what sort of mods are available to give them abit more poke and increase that flat 6 burble, the usual chip, filter and exhaust?
With regard to prices they have been tumbling for a while now, so 6-7k is about right and is a bargain car!

I didnt realise until today the facelift is just not the clear lens
Modified air intake
Retuned exhaust
Different front and rear bumpers
Glass rear window
10bhp more, now 260bhp
Clear lens
0-60 sposed to be 5.3secs and 170mph top speed.

Mine has 94000 with full porsche service history, which although average miles is high for a convertible i guess? Looking at the ads 2003 models are still up for 9-12k
As Im sure a lot of people on here can see its true value is far more than what it would sell for.
I'd certainly snap it up if my circumstances were right at the time.
Proper little bargain
and I couldnt give a monkeys its a write-off etc!

Saying Boxsters are a poor man's 911 is such a retarded cliche. Does that mean that a Focus is a poor man's Mondeo, or a Corsa is a poor man's Vectra? It's a comment that smacks of jealousy if you ask me.
Nice cars though, never liked them or the 911 but a guy i know has just bought a really tidy boxster and it looks very smart! The cayman has grown on me too. I've tried to talk the girlfriend into one but she's not having any of it.
What jag did this replace?
What jag did you replace?
unless you had a physical constraint like a garage or drive that a mondeo wouldn't fit in, what reason, other than being cheaper (both to buy and run), would you have to want a focus over a mondeo?
when it comes to things like the boxster vs 911, looks and driving pleasure all come in to it more, and i can see that plenty would prefer the mid engined layout of the cheaper model.
they are only jealous, you buy what you can afford, unless youre rich most people buy second hand preformance cars, when beckham (very rich) sells his fleet of footballer specials as he spends most of his time in america now, someone is either going to pay way too much or get a real bargain
