Well it just goes to show........
.... that insurance companies can still astonish you!!!
So here i was minding my own business when the phone rang...
"Hello Sir, This is Ian from Aviva with a quick courtesy call" etc etc
Now recently i have changed my long standing single policy with them to a multi-car policy to cover my girlfriends Ka aswell as my Beetle convertable and made about a £125 saving which was nice!!
Anyway he says "im just ringing to welcome you to Aviva and make sure youre happy with the service"
Anyway after some more small talk he then asks me if i have any other vehicles I would like to insure so i jokingly said "Yeah you can insure my Evo VI Tommi Makinen if you like" its currently uninsured and sat in the garage!!
Anyway he takes ages to find the model and that was because he was searching for an Evolution and not a Lancer lol
anyway amazingly he says "Yes we can insure that" please can you hold whilst i contact the underwriter!!!
So im waiting about 10 minutes knowing that hes going to come back with a quote over a grand when he drops this bombshell.............
"That will be £460 with a 3000 mile limit sir and we can offer you a laid up policy during the Winter months at a 75% discount on the premium"
Well i nearly fell off my chair!!! i obviously accepted and he explained that I got discount as an exisiting customer etc etc and they mirrored my NCB but wow thats by FAR the cheapest quote i have ever had on it!!
Thankfully mine is a limited edition UK model and thats why they were able to insure it but it just goes to show that sometimes the major insurers who dont usually want to touch this kind of car can come up trumps!!!
Thought i would share that as im pretty chuffed

yeah, cant beat mirrored no claims....when i bought my second car in 2010, i tried to get insurance on it (ncb all tied up on the RS) and the lowest i could get was around £900
one call to greenlight (who my RS was with) and i had a policy fully comp for £500.....pretty good i thought.
suprised you had a tommi mak and no insurance, thats brave

LOL cheers guys!!
Yeah i wasnt happy with the TME having no insurance but i couldnt get a laid up policy for it so my only option at the time was to have it fully insured whilst it was off the road during Winter which seemed such a waste of money as it would have cost me £600 per year plus even during the Summer months i hardly ever drive it anyway!!
yeah the Beetle...

They suprised me too a few weeks ago. Insurance was up on my vw transporter, its a hig van but I only use it for commuting, moving own goods and camping.
Most insurers wont touch it or will only offer a commercial policy, so I had a quick look on the vwt4 forum and aviva seemed to be mentioned a lot.
Rang them up, all mods declared, £100 cheaper than anyone else without mods!
Then the bloke asked if I had any other products with aviva, which my company pension scheme is, so he knocked another %10 off
