Default what sort of bhp????

Plannin to rebuild my 1.6 b/end usin 0.5 oversize pistons (standard compression) with a kent cvh34 up top and hybrid blower. Just wonderin what sort of power to expect to get out of it realistically?? I'd like over 200bhp, would i need low comp pistons to get this?? Anyone got this sort of setup?? Cheers in advance!

chipped, k&n, scorpion system at the mo and made 168bhp at 16psi but bottom end is tired and needs a rebuild! Spent a load of cash gettin the car up to scratch so far, so ain't done much to the engine. Was also gonna get a 5th injector.

I recon it wouldnt be far off 200bhp @ the flywheel, get a better intercooler and bin the k+n if its a cone and you will see an improvment.

you will only need low comp pistons if you are planning to run big boost 20 psi +, if not dont waste your money on them and buy some good quaility standard compression ones.

To have a 'safe' 200 + bhp i would use low comp pistons with the correct fuelling.

Is it a good/bad idea to machine standard comp pistons to lower the compression, only i was gonna buy a recon bottom end that came with some new standard comp o.sized pistons. Really want it to be reliable as i was plannin on doin some track days when it's done.

well i wouldnt machine pistons, i was advised not to go that way by the engineer who built my bottom end last month, if u want anything reliable do it properly while you have the engine out and buy low comp forged pistons,

But then people say its fine to skim pistons a bit, but i didnt want that.

up to you mate, think about it and save up the money to build a good bottom end with a good setup it should be ok.
