Its nothing to do with being a Goldmember or regular user... its the fact that some of these radios that people are asking for codes for could well be stolen.

i'm not sure you've defined "stereo" properly mark, you may need to place more emphasis on that, possibly by posting it up in several places, all at once, i would try when everyone is watching the grand prix and no one is posting

on a serious note though, would it not be possible to simply put up a post when someone next visits the site with a disclaimer stating something along the lines of "i won't ask for stereo codes on this forum, doing so may reslut in an infraction/ban" etc?

that way everyone's agreed to the thing and you won't need to do so much posting up in the forums and peeps have agreed when they next visit

It has been added to the rules mate which any new user is "supposed" to read before joining.

You're right mate... there has been a big increase in requests for radio codes over the past few months... many of these coming from new members who sign up just to ask for a radio code I also agree that many of these are stolen units hence the blanket ban on both asking for a and providing codes on this site.

Whats a load of bollocks!

Whats a ford stereo worth form the era that the code generator works for, fiver, tenner?!?!

Doubt any code requests have been for stolen radios. More likely traders and genuine requests.

stolen????

LOL who steals ford stereos, i expect most are out of cars and to be put on ebay and the codes are not with the car, i had loads over the years from salvage that went to the scrap and didnt have codes, i just got them from people on other sites as the generators never worked for me

just removing your battery could mean you now need th3 code bacuse you never had the history etc etc

no worry, if i had a stolen ford stereo (worth about £20 i guess?? if cd or £5 if not) i could get the code from a million places so by not getting them here it doesnt really matter

dont get me wrong if thats the rule then people will have to get em elsewhere but nothing will change, i dont ask for em on here but i dont work with salvage any more so dont need to i guess

i would love to see some stats on how many OE stereos are stolen per year, i bet its single figures at most, the spare wheel or fuel from the car would be worth more than the stereo

i have a friend at ford who gave me the code for a stereo i took from a focus st i broke but that takes a few days of pestering to get him to remember

I had a spare wheel taken from my New Transit a while ago.
They left the CD player /radio, thousands of pounds worth of tools and spares, a full tank of fuel and in fact the van itself.

Seems they just wanted a spare set of wheels as they had my mate's spare, parked next to me, and another mate's wheel from the same site later in the day.
taking radios is a thing of the past.

yeah right if someone steals sevral from a forcourt then puts them say on ebay or sells them to another car dealer they will make a few quid people have and will rob things for less money

did they cut the cable?
its seems such a daft system, a cable system that is usually knackered after a few years under a van but some bolt cutters will have it off in 10 seconds ta da £100+ worth of wheeland tyres
