changing HPI report
i found this on another motoring forum, and wondered what the answer is to this
Hi & thanks for your time on reading our problem. We bought a car back in sept 2009, which we did do a HPI report and the vehicle same back as being stolen back in aug 2003. The dealer wrote an disclaimer on the receipt, that he would have this marker removed in 4 weeks but guess what it didn't. We have recently gone to part exchange to car in with renault and they done a HPI check and now the car has come back as being a CAT C rather than being stolen. I have called HPI to find out if the marker was changed but they wouldn't give me this info. I could have sold the car at the market value if the report shows stolen but now it's got a CAT C marker is not worth anything. Can someone please shed some light on this for me please.

once a car is put on the HPI condition alert register no one, especially not a dodgy car dealer can remove it it stays there for the life of the vehicle, I had mine inspected by auto align and it was moved over to the condition inspected register but that was before all the different catergories were intoduced, mine just showed as a total loss july 2003 with no catagory hope this helps
are proper HPI checks not guaranteed?
surly if you bought a car on information given by them, which is false, and you end up out of pocket, surly the HPI company will be liable for that.
I'm not talking about the £3 quid text things you can get done etc, i'm sure those will have a million and one Terms and Conditions and disclaimers.
