' Snoring ' Noise coming from Gearbox at low revs
Does anyone know what this is ive asked a few times with no real joy.
Its a 2.0 Focus, when pulling away, and crusing up to and under 2000 revs, the gearbox is making what sounds like a snoring sound, its like a dry bearing rattle, ive changed the fluid and no joy, its not the clutch release bearing either, you can hear it rattling on idle, and like i say, pull away it does it up to about 2000 revs, then stops, and then comes back again when you drop below 2000 again.

His is petrol zetec iirc, However my escort is an endura de turbo diesel with the mtx 75 gearbox and mine always does this do you happen to know why??? I thought it was the same reason as above??? cheers if ya can help, As for the focus i would have thought it would be the diff bearings mate i think hth
Its a 2 litre blacktop zetec.. sounds like a fucking diesel at low revs tho ! damn think, someone said input shaft bearing? Basically get in any car, drive it as normal until you need to get into 3rd gear, but instead of putting it in 3rd, put it in 5th, and its the same kind of noise, like the gearbox is struggling to keep the engine going.. dont know what it is..
Steering wheel is jumping/clunking all over the place, one minute its free and then it will go tight and then ' pop ' with a loud clunk and jerk to one side, mainly the left, but ive been told it could be the rack, u/v joint, lower arms, top mounts, track rod ends.. i just really cant be bothered embarking on a mission of replacing 10 parts to when only 1 part was at fault
