Default Cossies & your age!!

Hi folks, i was just having a think about Cossies, well any performance car really and thought, what age do you think you'll get out of if all, sell up etc, or will you/we always need that BUZZ if you like into our 60-70s etc like Rod etc?? and can you see yourself keeping your current car for alot longer??

Bit random i know but be interesting in what you think??

I plan to keep mine for a good few years, where would you go after a 3dr?? - anything else like Evo's, BMW's etc would just be used as a daily family car as they just aren't special enough for me to cherish like the Cossie

I'll always be in to performance car though as long as i can drive

Bought my cossie at 19, now 28 with the Impreza... is it something you will ever lose the love for?

I doubt it lol

A cossie will still pull at my heart strings when the close the curtain on me mate

Well i am 54 and i have had my 3 door since new and i hope god willing i have another 25 years with it, i still get a kick out of its power and road holding, friends say "why dont you sell it and grow up", all i can say is "bollocks" it still makes me feel about 18,and as long as its possible to get a zimmer frame in the back i will keep it untill the end and then it will be handed over to my nephew, wont give it to my neice as she wants to paint it pink.

I've owned RS's since I was 18 and bought my cossie when I was 23 and still got it at 29. I'll never ever get rid as I'm rebuilding it in memory of my dad who absolutely loved the car.

I am looking for another toy to go with it at the mo and currently got my sights set on a Pulsar GTi-R.

A lot of my friends take the piss out of me and tell me to grow up and all the rest of it but bollocks, this is what I want to do so I'm gonna do it!!

I share this one with my buddy Graham for track days.
It was originally built by Graham Hathaway from a motorsport shell. Full cage. Leda shocks and AP Brakes. We now have full Group A suspension for it.
We're both over 60..

Almost bought a Saph when I was 20. An F plate 2wd. Ł2000 only. That was 1999. Regret it big time. Would struggle to buy one now let alone run one. I'll be 40 by the time i can buy one a few.

Dont ever plan to have anything "normal" or Standard any time soon

had a flint grey 2wd saff when i was 18, was going to but a GTi-R but luckily it was sold......... had loads from then on and a few 500+, all 2wd, and a mk5 escort shell with sierra floorpan was rwd cossied, currently 31 and no cossie but the rarest every sierra ever produced and it will never leave my side and id love either a mint standard 302R or a 600+ 2wd crystal blue saff with a monster spec chassis build........
Cosworths are in my blood and will be untill the end of my days *ford national anthem soundtrack playing*
Maby my Audi will have to go

Anyone wanna share a lockup in Basildon?

Great to read these replies, not many of us will be without one, or not for long anyway...

I'm 44 now and i'm on my 4th 3dr, 2 saffs, one Escos and a RS MK1 Focus, that's without all the jap stuff.... BUT i always come back to cossies so Dave, be aware of that...

Had 5 RS's since I was 19, 22 now. Keep going back to them for some reason even after other distractions like my old scooby and vr6 etc. Unfortunately circumstances mean I have to sell my RS1800 Fiesta with ST170 running gear ( the manj ) but I will be back in an RS sometime, of that there is no doubt. Haven't scratched the cossie itch yet...

Iv had cosworths for 15 years and no matter how many times you sell on and call it a day you always end up back in another, if we realised this at the beginning the money we could all save, i have spent thousands on cars and lost thousands as well but don't see it ending soon to be honest.

my problem is that a spend a load of money on each one and sell it.

If i would have just stuck with the first saff it would be 500+hp lol.

Same as if i would have stuck with my escos but never have...

I'm 25 and i got mine when i was 20. I'd only get rid if i really needed to otherwise it will be staying.

As Brammer says, most things you could replace them with don't feel special enough to have purely as a toy. At the end of the day if you enjoy it there's no need to get rid.
