There will be a nut at the top of the turret, you can safely remove the whole strut, however when removed you will need to have some spring compressors to hold the spring, BEFORE you undo the nut you will see on the top which holds the top plate down.

So if you have it removed from the hut you just need to undo it from the turret?

Use plenty of penetrating oil on the stuck bolt and leave to set first.

the problem i have now is, ive removed the strut and cut away the lower arm (with a grinder) so that i can get at the siezed front bolt, hopefully useing a blow lamp on the seized bush/bolt to heat it up and freeing it, well that's tomorrow morning's plan, have you got a better idea

You shoulden't have to touch the lower arm, normally it's just a case of levering the lower arm down so the strut can be removed from the hub?

im not changing the hub, im changing the lower suspenion arm

all sorted now, but what a nightmare, burnt the rubber bush out, then had the grinder on it to cut it in half, managed to lever the front half out after grinding the head of the bolt off, then wacked the rear half out with a 4 lb hammer and a long chisel, i didnt think i was ever going to manage do this, it's been a long day
