Would a Series 2 RS Turbo on standard wheels/tyres (195/50/15) which is lowered 60mm catch or get stck in brake rollers used for an MOT test?

 

Mine was 70mm dropped and lets just say i had to get it back to 40mm due to being too low.Exhaust is what catches or front bumper.

 

So it caught on the brake rollers at MOT then?

 

Depend on the rollers. My car just about makes it at my MOTers on a -25mm drop.

Should probably bin the 60mm springs anyways, worst thing you can put on an rs turbo.

 

Ill be fitting them anyways so no more comments on how bad they are etc etc. All I want to know is if anyone who has or has had them fitted had any issues at MOT time with the rollers.

I ran my rs 60mm with same tyre spec as you,
it was fine on the brake rollers the only issue i had apart
from Speed Bumps !!!!
Was getting it on the ramp.
I had to go to an mot station with a flush ramp apart from
that was like a go-kart Loved it

Mine was bloody awful on -60mm springs!! It was bouncy, the shocks had no travel so even minor bumps would hit the stops and chuck the car about, it would destroy tyres and wheel bearings every couple of thousand miles as well.
Still say to this day best thing I did was get rid of them springs! lol

Thats what I wanted to know. The garage I use for MOT has a lift sunk into the ground for MOTs so that wont be a problem.

Tell them at mot station its go limited slip diff and they will take it up the road and test brakes with a little machine on the seat,its not good for diff on brake rollers

 

as said above, its got a LSD, so it should not go in the rollers

useless fuck wits some of the mot testers are. even tells em on the wall charts/mot computer not to RBT anything with LSD, 4x4 or belt driven transmissions

 

Just be careful not to hit the jack you get attached on ramps,as you will hit it lol.

My car could'nt go across the rollers,they had to lay down the metal covers.That was at 70m drop tho.So you might be lucky.Did handle really well and loved the low ride but as some comments say,it destroyed my tyres and ohh my god speed bumps.I got caught and stuck on some like a sea-saw.

So keep away from speed bumps when you can and major dips in the road and you be fine lol

 

rubbish mate. im an mot tester if some one comes to me saying they cant have there car in the brake rollers due to the diff i say no problem ill set the brake tester to 4X4 as it lets the other whell spin free.

do you realy think ford would make a car that would get damaged when being moted?????

 

as ive just said my brake rollers can be set to 4X4 so the other wheel will free spin. lololol i dont no of a chart in my work shop that says any think like that????????? i mab be wrong but i dont think the brake rollers would have the option of a 4X4 car if they wasent alowed!!!!!

 

I know its common practice to not Brake test some 4x4s on the rollers, they use a throw meter instead, but never had a prob with LSD cars - you just tell the machine is got an LSD and it does 1 wheel at a time!

-60mm Drop i reckon would catch, my Orion is -40mm which is -30mm for a turbo and that catches the mudflaps when in the rollers and on the beam jack on the mot ramp! Still you can't have standard ride height can you!?

 

Clarke the charts have not been in use since mot computerisation 5 years +

Rs turbos were on the chart, along with a lot of other random cars, certain automatics cvt type iirc. But as the vts now tells you in the vsi about any abnormalities with the brake test the charts are not needed, note that the vsi always reads STANDARD vehicles of this typr may be tested using a rbt.

Also not every roller brake tester has the 4x4 option

Agan not every testing station has rollers with these options.


If in doubt get the deceloremetre on the job.

My cabrio gets this, I just ask for it not to go in the rollers.

 

I said to my mot station examiner july last year(as there was a post on R.S.O.C forums,about is it right you cant brake test limited slip diffs on brake rollers, he said yes we take them up the road!.MK1 focus RS should also not be brake tested on the rollers ,(as said maybe not all brake rollers have free spin)

our local mot station doesnt use rollers, they have a plate in the floor a bit like a weighbridge, they just drive on and brake,

 

Sounds like a good way around it steve, Unusual tho.
