Best is to use a panel in the original box but with the front section opened out. I run a cone though without a problem

As above, seems a shame to cut up airboxes tho as they are hard to find

ill say standard box all day...

I have tested it on the rollers: Cone vs box and there was a lost of power at 10bhp with the cone
i allso tryed standard vs KN panel filter..and lost 1bhp but gain 2Nm more with the KN..

this is what they mean by cutting it open..

I run a K&N caone but after readin up the standard air box looks the better option for power because you will get less hot air sucked in. Will be taking the head light out for track days to improve air flow.

i run a cone filter but read up on all this quite abit so ive brought some carbon fibre sheets and gonna cut one up to shape across the side of the filter and engine down the middle to keep the hot air away!!

10bhp! would like to see the graphs to see where the power was lost etc.

not doubting you just intrested as i run a cone and have the air box in the shed! be the cheapest 10 bhp i ever got.

MFI still chatters if you don't run a DV it's just that the metering unit muffles the sound so it's hard to hear.
Cone VS Stock...... IMO makes bugger all real world difference, once it's gone through your turbo thats being heated by 800deg exhaust gasses and then cooled down again by your IC the temp that it entered the turbo at is pretty much irrelevant lol
In theory of course the cooler it enters the turbo the better..
