At the moment the car has got a pts chip, standard rebuilt bottom end with Mahle pistons. The head has been skimmed and contains a piper 285t2 cam and i also have a hybrid turbo which has got the cossie 4x4 housing and is pushing a healthy 17psi through the engine and i also have the pace intercooler which is soon going to be changed for a GRS and with all this its pushing out a reliable 200 bhp and 199 lbs ft tourque and thats it for the time being

taken from another reply of mine

hi there...we have built a 230-240hp erst and the spec list was roughly:

1600cc CVH
+.5mm MAHLE pistons with 7.6:1 CR IIRC
burton steel rods
stage 3 turbo with .48 exhaust housing
stage 3 Vulcan engineering head - big valves, fully ported and ported and bench tested
still retaining MFI
EVERYTHING regarding fuelling was renewed - injectors, fuel pump, filter, accumaltor, wiring etc etc
stage 2 bearnie box and 4 paddle clutch (to cope with power)
Pace HUGE front mount intercooler
Pace rad
CVH 34 Kent cam
setup by Ahmed Bayjoo
limitor raised to 7200rpm

runs 22psi boost and lights up the tires in 2nd and 3rd even with the bearnie box in the dry!!

there is NO 5th injector and still on MFI...power figures have been estimated at 230-240hp GENUINE and beats new M3's hands down!

also have a S2 with a ZVH running 230hp

2.1 steel Zetec bottom end
stage 3 turbo
Calibra pistons
stage 3 turbo
stage 3 head
GRS intercooler
Pace rad
FRST OFAB management
custom map by Ahmed Bayjoo
CVH 35 cam (IIRC)

produces 230hp on the dot (cant remember name of RR but was in PF)

the difference between the 2 cars is the power characteristics...the zvh pulls HARD low down and all the way to redline really...and the CVH is a PROPER race engine and foooookin MOVES when revved!...and when i say these 2 cars fly...i mean they FOOOOOKIN FLY

the stage 3 head will just help the head flow quicker...by using the standard head u will gain more torque...i cant remember who it was but someone was getting 250hp using standard head on a 1600cc cvh with cossy management ...the stage 3 head will allow more air and fuel into the cylinders and will allow gasses to into and out of the cylinders quicker (in theory...all depends on the flow rate of the head) and with the bigger valves more air anf fuel will get into the cylinders

HTH

What is the difference between a stage 2 and stage 3 head am, i wright the stage 3 just means its the same as the stage 2 but comes with an uprated cam and so if this is the case can i still use the cam ive got already? If i go for the stage 2 head will it be ok for the standard bottom end. Is there a chance of getting detonation once fitted and up and running?

The difference are in the valves sizes IIRC...however, every tuner will say their stage 1 2 or 3 will consist of certain things while other will say their same staged heads consist of something else etc...

But as far as im aware...its the difference in exhaust valves where the difference lays...stge one is standard sized valves with a slight port and polish

stage 2 is bigger inlet valves and better head flow

stage 3 is bigger inlet and exhaust valves and same porting and polishing as stage 2 or the ports are even bigger than stage 2

Every stage can consist of uprated cam however its the differences i explained above that are the main differences...but yes you can use your existing cam no probs

yes you can go for stage 2 head and standard bottom end...i know someone who was running stage 3 head and stage 2 turbo with stock bottom end and his car went very well!

There will be a chance of det when the head is fitted as there will be a difference in air and fuel going into the cylinders so its best to get everything checked over once its all fitted
