Question any known faults on ST170's ?

Chap I work with is going to get one, and although I have owned one, it was only a year old then.

So do they now have any common faults ?

Thanks

Seen a couple develop problems with the box that controls the variable inlet. Can be prone to an annoying rattle from the exhaust. Good cars though

Cats, hego sensors. VAriable inlet control and dual mass flywheels.
Quite hard to find one that feels like it has the full 170 horses as well.

Have a look on www.fordst170.co.uk.

My old one was very thirsty. Got 280ish miles to a tank and 310 if driving like a granny, my ST that's knocking on the door of 300bhp will do that.

Went alrightish if you are happy to nail the shit out of it, handling was excellent. Gearbox was bullet proof and had a nice feel to it. Only problems I had were the inlet manifold clip thing snapped which caused the control box to break too, quite common this but there is an updated plastic clip which has a metal pin through it, consider fitting this as it is a much stronger part.
Exhaust heatchields started rattling too, so they made their way into the bin!

Had mine for nearly 2 years now and not a fault in that time. Great day to day car as mentioned above.

touch wood ive only had like a couple of minor probs.

had the car nearly a year now and love it.

its nice to drive, wicked handling. gearbox feels solid and awesome. but doesnt feel 170 horses and probably aint.
