Default 6 1/2 inch speakers in the foowell

How have you fitted your 6 1/2 inch components in your MK4 Escort/ MK2 Orion footwells???

I've currently just cut the grills and brackets and managed to get them to fit, but the footwell grills arn't the best of fit, and i'm really after some quality sound. . .

Is there a replacement footwell build I can buy from anywhere or have I gotta build something???

Yeah I went 5 1/4" in the front and 6" in the back Infinity Kappa's, sound lovely crossed over and amped up with a 12" in the boot for bass.

karlos - did the surrounds need cutting at all? My front speakers are pants and need to sort some decent ones out.

Yes, I cut out a hole big enough for the speaker and used the speaker grills that came with them, they were also very deep so needed to bring them forward a bit anyway, also had to beat the original metal speaker fixing 'area' back with a hammer to allow for the depth too lol
Looks very neat and tidy installed though, I'll get a pic later for you.

i modified the original plastic covers to fit 6.5" speakers, like so...

just a 20mm deep MDF ring mounted to the front of the grille, blended with fibreglass, the area behind trimmed out, and then the metal bracket 'persuaded' slightly to clear the cones
