steering rack leaking oil,prop uj where from?

Default steering rack leaking oil,prop uj where from?

hi,got a spare rack which im going to put on it seems all nice and tight but its leaking oil from behind the gaiter,
is it just needing seals?
where can i get them from?
is it hard to replace them?
also needing front prop uj as not been done for a while,wheres best place to get one?

not sure if theres any seals to replace looking at the drawing,maybe someone else can help more.

The piccie is a manual rack not power rack, there are seals in the power rack, tbh by the time they are worn so are the surfaces on which they bear most of the time, might strip it down to find it's scored to buggery, might be better to just swap out, but seal wise easy enough.

tabs when i stripped my power rack down to paint it i had power steering fluid in my gaitors,is there suppose to be fluid in there?or are my seal worn?

NO should be bone dry in the gaiters, but they might be 20+ years old, if no amount to worry about, ie not dripping or needing constant topping up leave alone.

so not worth replacing seals just replace rack?

So where can you source the seals from as most manufacturers tend not to list them so you have to buy new or recon

Seals are easy to get, and in better materials generally than were used 20+ years ago, a seal supplier one in most big cities, I use ALLSEALS in Norwich Norfolk.

Guess it depends col, I appreciate a 12 month warranty and less fuss mate, but not cheap cheap i agree.

Found this post. My cossie 4x4 also has this oil leakage.

Does anyone has the part numbers for the seals and where to get them?
