Default 5tox 88' RS Cosworth

Recently joined up as a new member and got my new pride and joy the other day...

Shes an absolute minter and im very pleased with her, from what i can see she is pretty standard other than the 3" stainless exhaust, green injectors and chipped ecu running approx 260 bhp
oh and the new compomotive MO's that my brother bought before selling me the car

The plan is to keep her looking standard and rebuild the engine with new shells/Rings/Gaskets etc... before shoving almost 300BHP up her ass with the Gunship chip

found this on ebay at the right price and just couldn't let it go

My boost hose from the Turbo to the Intercooler had a tiny split but it was enough to make the car idle and run like a dog with 3 legs,

Ive tidied up the engine bay with blue vacuum pipes and sprayed the rocker cover black (will have to get a pic next time i'm down at the car)
But i'll be keeping all of the original parts in the shed as it seems a standard engine is more desirable to a lot of people

Half a day at work since i was on a first aid course, so this afternoon my new hoses and filter went on

Engine before:

And after...

Started quite late on in the day and didn't realise it involved taking off the wheel and inner wing to remove the air box (will keep hold of this and the filler neck for the water bottle, apparently there getting like ducks teeth to find)
started to get dark when i finished but i'm happy with the end result, the car runs much nicer with new (split free) hoses

Haven't decided what to do with the open vent hose yet (from the block to airbox) but i should imagine i'll create a catch tank at some point

Big contradiction in terms here, if you have Green injectors at the moment, you aren't gonna be doing a "Gunship" conversion with them, that would be a backwards step.

Next thing on my 'to do' list is to sort out the block breather hose, since removing the airbox it's just sort of sitting there happily venting to atmosphere but i'd like to remove it completely and fit a nice little catch tank.

Here's the offending item (highlighted in yellow)

And here's where id like to re-route it, it seems a popular place to stick it

I see alot of people have catch tanks with several outlets, one of which drains the oil back to the sump but does it have to be quite so complex or can it just be a simple tank like the one below, one pipe in and one vent to atmosphere

I don't mind just keeping an eye on the level and emptying it myself, does anyone know the size of the pipe off the top of their head as the cars not kept at my house... i'm guessing possibly 19mm or thereabouts

Done a bit of research online and i've got a little bit mixed up with my chips, its not the gunship chip i'm going with but an MSD chip which gives around 315bhp

Was a close one between that and the bayjoo chip from Burton power but i'm reliably informed that MSD is the way forward
