Get the fuelling checked.....never had problems with mine getting hot whatsoever when the car is moving!
Done plenty of 140+ runs and trackdays and on the road mine never got hot, though can't see why you'd want to hold it up there long enough to have it overheating!

Agree 100%!
Mine never gets over 95deg even when hitting 6000-7000rpm in 5th @ 24psi

Everyone going on about fans are way off the mark, fans do not cool the engine when your moving (unless your doing 10mph lol). You get 1000x more airflow from moving than any fans will ever be able to give lol

If your hot it's because either your cooling system is not perfoming well (blocked rad, hoses, etc..), your lean (fuelling needs sorting), or your head is not seating 100% to the block (not much you can do about that easily).

I hope its not the head! was done up correctly with arp bolts.I think its running lean.As the fueling is back one whole turn on metering unit (black unit on right side).so ill turn it back to the way it should be and cross fingers that helps.

just to let you know, doing speeds of around 70 to 90Mph,the temp stays just below midway.

is the thermostat opening properly?
is the front mount restricting airflow too much?
my zvh on 23psi of boost doesn't get too hot at all, infact above 50mph and it's cool as you like.

i had this on my car it was the water pipes round the wrong way on the heater matrix so had an airlock in it.... but since then ive got a airtech rad/fmic/msd fan switch kit and 82 degrees thermostat and genuine ford temp sender and it never goes above half way now and when at them speeds my gauge reading is dropping off the bottom lol

my estate use to cook under full load, turned out to be a cracked head, but it is normally caused by water system block or underfueling

Yeah.Had a cracked head in water jacket last year. This a new head, covered less tham 5000Miles.No signs of oil or water mixing.not losing water.air block, fuel issue me thinks.Car runs fine,no smoke or noises.idles fine.In traffic i switch fans on,that stays below mid way.Drove car today, had to put fans on for little while doing 50 to 70 and lots of stops and starts in traffic didnt help.

All this talk of fans etc, they aren't relevant at 130mph. The situation can be improved by looking at airflow to the radiator, but chances are you have another issue.

Even now the issue stays but not as bad.Had most parts apart, flushed rad and heater matrix and all hoses.fitted new water pump, temp sender, fan switch, new thermostat.heaters work fine. List goes on,even that wetter stuff.is it possible that ive wired the fan switch back to front that would make the fans kick in late? Its the fan switch from msd.sometimes it kicks in midway or before and other times waits until on high normal temp. Dodgy new temp sender?

As already said above FANS DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT 130mph!!!! lol
How do you know your actually hot? Are you going by the 25 year old temp gauge or do you have a decent aftermarket one as you might not actually be hot at all?

Took motor to jano, metering unit dancing about.was running on pretty much air lol.So might explain the heat build up.So trying to source another metering unit.Jano set the mixture up,went out for spin, came back and was running lean again with 10minutes!

My rad is restrictive from air flow due to the standard bumper. But i understand the physics of air flow but the strange thing was having the fans on a manual switch when on motorway helped, dont know why.ive always had to keep heaters on to help cool down quicker too.
The temp sender is new,so id expect the dial will move up and down as the sender tells it too but might be worth a shot trying a aftermarket dial.

So yeah looks like it was a major lean issue.keep posted.

Only reason look down is my other half goes oo it getting hot lol.

my first thought re-reading this old thread was engine running lean. my tiny rad keeps even my engine cool at high speeds/loads.
