Default negative boost wtf??

Got my boost gauge fitted today and it drops to -8 psi on idle (see video) and boosts to 0 psi. Ok so it is a cheap gauge from fleabay but there must be something amiss. Have dropped the boost as far as possible on a the bleed valve before it gets setup so should be running near standard boost level.

Or is it just cos its cheap!

no mate, your car runs vacuum until its on load, have you taken it down the road on boost?

should go into + figures then

and if it doesnt, then check the actuator arm hasnt come off the wastegate, or check your turbo hasnt fell off

Thanks guys video was just revving whilst stationary. Never had gauge b4 or fitted one so was not sure. I don't wanna drive it hard till its setup cos its a new engine. 4 weeks and counting until it goes in for the setup

LMAO lol!
not negative boost as said, more to the point, how could a guage give you a negative boost pressure in psi, it's measured in mg/Hg

Well I don't know never had one but I expected it to go from zero up to whatever but certainly not go below zero. Bar or psi who cares i know 1 bar equals roughly 14.5 psi anyway.

easily, as it is measuring in gauge pressure.

you don't have to thrash it just go for a little drive- once it has load it should start going positive if your actuator is setup right.
