sorry to add yet another post regarding boost issues but i would like some specific help if i could! basically, i bought my 86 escort turbo recently, the bloke had just had a new actuator fitted, a standard replacement unit nothing special but it is new.
basically i have very little boost, i could feel the car boosting slightly at 5000 rpm, which of course meant it was almost out of puff, could this be down to an incorrectly adjusted actuator? he reckons it was spot on before problem developed and actuator was changed. but the mechanic advised him to get it set up on rolling road, which i intend to do but want to know things are working before i take it there if you know what i mean. should i adjust the actuator? if yes, how many turns/threads should i do it? the car was also tapping and had done 92,000 miles so i have changed the oil pump/ water pump timing belt etc, the other thing to mention is that i have bought a brand new standard cam and lifters as my old one when removed was very worn! all lobes pitted etc. would this have caused it? i have not finished timing it up etc yet so have not run it. i also have a boost gauge fitted if i should be looking for something. i eagerly anticipate your advice!!

 

The worn cam will probably be your source of the tapping mate, as for the boost problem you will be better off getting it set by a tuner to be safe, they will set it to suit your other mods and also set your fueling up too

 

Get it set up mate. Tuners will know how to set it up correctly.
