new cam going in tommorow. running in advice needed.
hi everyone.
following my last post regarding my knackered cam. the new piper one is being fitted tommorow evening.
i know to cover the cam and followers in lube prior to fitment and to run it at 2500 rpm for twenty mins.
is there anything else i should be aware of ???
a few friends have told me to turn the engine over without the ignition leads on to run some oil up to the head, is this right ?? will it harm the cam ???
also should i soak my followers in oil over night ??
thanks again

Yeh leave your followers in oil over night so the fill with oil.
No need to take ignition leads off just let it run for 20mins at 2500-3000, just make sure you keep and eye on it so it dont overheat!

You don't really need to run it in standing still, you could run it in whilst driving it, but only if you can easily get to a decent stretch of road and can successfully not allow the revs to drop below 2000rpm for that first 20 mins. You don't want to rev it very high either though. Benefit of doing it that way is that it won't get hot.
Not that I have high hopes for the Piper cam though.
