Default One of my dashboard screws is rounded off, what can i do?

As above, oneof the stardrive screws has completely broken down in the middle, cant believe it, was the last one i come to doing. The right size stardrive just doesnt grip in there now. How do i go about drilling it out as never had to drill out a screw before, is it just a case of drilling through the middle? what sort of size drill bit would i need, one thats slightly bigger than the thread size then try and retap a new thread after?

can u use the next size star bit and whak it in with a hammer, or as you said drill the head off the bolt, start with about 3mm drill and work the way up till just the head of it comes off, so you can then remove the remainder of it with mole grips

To be honest where i was playing about trying to get it undone i have completely mullered the middle part so dont think going to next size up is an option now lol.

I'll try wat u said about drilling the head off then, but thing is surely there wouldnt be anything for mole grips to grip onto would there as the thread is in hole of the bodywork?

if you only drill the head off then there should be a bit left sticking out the thickness of the dashboard or whatever the bolt is holding down

Take your time, drill it slowly with decent drill bits.

Get 1 of the other bolts and measure how thick the head is so you know how far you need to drill

I'm waiting for msd to get pf09's back in, as my cars in bits again, if they haven't got them monday I will contact matt lewis, I've had my charge carrier welded so that won't leak now, the bulkhead is cut for the loom. I've just retaped the entire under bonnet loom, so as soon as my mates soldered 3 wires for me the looms going back in to be properly connected to the car, then its gettin mot'd
front mount fitted and I'm off to jano for a final setup.

I'm hoping to have it ready for mot by wednesday
