Default Can you use a IB5 box with a mk1 Focus RS engine?

Hi all.

Newbie here with a quick question.

Can you use a IB5 box with a mk1 Focus RS engine? Fitting a Zetec engine into a kit car, wondering if Id need to replace the box for a MTX-75 as currently running a ib5 box.

Thanks in advance

yes you can but will need to change the flywheel and clutch for a smaller item from an ib5 gearbox model car. 1.6/1.8 fiesta or escort. or one from an EFi cvh engine, fiesta turbo, xr2i etc. this will need the holes drilling to 11mm but they are lighter than the zetec equivelent.

Cheers for the quick responce

The kit car in question already has a Zetec 1.8 engine and IB5 box from a 2001 Focus. I guess the clutch and fly from that would do the job???????

as above really.
may need the sump trimming back to get the driveshafts past, but easy to do with no welding work to be carried out.
not done it myself, but read about some issues with blacktop type sumps.

the point is it will fit and at worst it'll need a tiny amount of modding.

won't all bc/ib5's though.
the only true way to get a strong box is the mtx75 route.
