I need help with my mondy diesel. It has had a rattle/ gruff sound on tick over for about 18 mths now and its starting to really pi$$ me off! It is so loud you cant talk near the car! My brother in-law is a mechanic for nissan and does all my work on all my cars but he cant work this out. I have had 2 tensioner pulleys, 1 new and 1 second hand and no good. Thinking of booking it in to a diesel specialist to look at injectors. Any one have any other ideas please

 

my friends peugeot diesel had a really loud noise at tickover and it turned out to be the power steering pump bearings, which she found out when the pump finally failed, so might we worth checking?

 

Can you feel any vibration through the clutch pedal?

Could be dual mass flywheel if so?

 

i used to work for ford and there was a technical bulletin to replace tensioner pulley, aux belt and crankshaft pulley when getting noise on mondeo diesels that was 4 years ago though
