Default any laptop techs on board?

We have a samsung r60 plus laptop and the last couple of days after shutting down it wouldnt reboot next time unless it was left for a good few hours, all it would do is load the blue samsung screen and then freeze.

Now it wont boot at all just goes to the same blue samsung screen and stays like that, wont even load in safe mode etc

Anybody got any ideas etc

cheers

Sounds Like it's getting too HOT.. make sure when You're using the laptop it's got good ventilation..But it also Sounds like it's fried the CPU..

I have mine raised at the back so air can flow freely

can you get into the BIOS???

Might be what rides says.

Might also be a corruption in the essential boot up files on your hard drive or a dead hard drive.

Look online for similar issues with your model. Theres been a lot of laptops the last few years that have poor cooling/faulty heat sink design. Personally i think some of it is deliberately done to "life" the laptops so they eventually get heat damage and stop working just after warranty expires cynical yes, but i wouldnt put it past the computer giants doing this to boost the service repair and new laptop sales income. Think about it, in hard times people just put up with a shit computer till times are good. If it dies you either go without or stump up repairs/replacement. so either way they are no worse off.

Repaired 2x this week with similar problems... I removed the heat transfer compound and replaced it and cleaned out the fan and bobs your uncle.

See if you can get into the bios and see if the temps are listed if so what are they?

If the Fan's stopped working then more likely it's fried the CPU.. but if you can take it appart..re-apply some heat paste..get a new fan then if might just boot up again..

I've had this happen to my Main PC..
and all I did was buy a new fan some heat paste cleaned it all out and applied the paste onto the cpu..
put the heatsink back in place.. new fan in place stuck it all together started it up was working fine..

Has it ever posted past the samsung logo? Have you successfully booted into the bios? As everyone mentioned it does sound heat related. Check out fans and vents to see if there is anything obvious. Normally most PC's nowadays have thermal event limiters. Well. They'll shut down if they get too hot to prevent any damage to the CPU and other components. You'd be surprised the temperature you can safely get them up to. Have a blast at the vents and fans. Wait a while for the system to cool. Completely. And then try boot into the bios. If you successfully get into it and it doesn't switch off then you've solved the heat issue. Then if it doesn't boot. Or hangs on windows loadup etc. Try safe mode. See how you get on. . . Sorry if that sounds a bit methodical. That's what working in IT does to ya. Turns you into a machine yourself. Lolls

well i aint got any compressed air yet but gave the fan vents a bloody good blow out the best i could and its powered up so im gonna go get some air tomorrow and do it properly with that.

Does this mean that it was just the van blocked up or will i still need a new fan?

Thanks to all who posted
