Default Brake calipers

I have taken my front calipers off and need the get the pistons out to inspect. Is there any way that I can get them out without using air or grease?
If there isn't anyway do you think that I could take them down to my local garage and have them blasted out there?

remove the pads, put them on the disc again
press the pedal to pump them out as much as you can
then slowly extract them, if possible

it depends how tight they are, if you dont have compressed air, use a foot pump im sure it would push them out if they are not to tight

Before I had a compressor my mate devised this

Its a bit crude but did the job,16mm socket, four slits in it so it allows the nut too travel back opening the socket and gripping the piston. We were doing it at night and everywhere was shut

That's clever. Got a bolt throgh the socket? I took them down to my local garage and asked the mechanic if he could blow them out with air. He said no f**king way. Far to dangerous. Will try that with my 16mm socket. I'm prety sure I havnt ever used it.
