Unhappy RS specialists in surrey? Maybe i should send it to the scrapyard instead..

Hi all,

Finally got the aRSe with trying to get my S2 escort running right myself after it broke down the week before xmas. Got a low end misfire but fine when it hits boost its doing my head in. Tried swapping leads, plugs, dizzy, rotor arm, coil etc and still got a low end miss. I just want to set the fucker on fire now ! but i know its not the answer. So please can anyone help?

Thanks for the ideas I'm liking the break down on the way idea my mrs has AA cover so blatantly doable. Thought it migt be the camshaft bu took the litters out and there were no signs of uneven wear or scoring , think it's electical as occasionally. Drops a cylinder or two when left at idle have really tried so many avenues just don. Know wat to do, my good friend is a mechanic and an s2 owner and he can't help either, think it needs an experts touch ! A shame though as I enjoy fixing it in some odd way just can't work it out this time. Got to say this forum is unbelievable big thanks to everyone never had to ask a question really there is always a previous post somewhere!

Anyway I'm rabbiting cheeRS to all!

It's been a whilse since I've needed to look at this stuff, but are VanAaken developments still around or even MA developments as they are not that far from you, there is also redline racing, or even just a local rolling road to have it checked out?

Be careful with the whole AA thing, as it will depend on what cover your other half has, they may just recover it to the nearest garage.

I assume you have tried another metering unit as it could be over fueling a huge amount casuing the missfire?

I'm only down the road from you in Ottershaw, so could follow you to a tuner on a Saturday morning and bring my towing bar with me just in case, if you need my help then send me a PM as I will forget to come back and check this (I'm old!)

Good luck

Rich

Thanks for the replies again, sorry been a while been away, Micki checked the tappets and all were fine, and Rich thanks for the support, have spoken to someone in the last day or so who has a couple or RS turbos and said to look at the fuelling too, when i get back to my car in a couple of days will try a few things, told it could be an air leak causing it not to fuel right on idle. and thanks for the names of those closer garages will definately give them a call for a chat. Will keep you posted, CheeRS all

NMS?? not sure where it is Im in Surrey next to London basically and as it has a missfire dont want to drive it any further than i have to incase it causes more problems, just want to find someone local who actually knows about RS's and can advise me on where to go next with it, just someone who actually gives a fuck about the car rather than seeing it as work and money. Maybe they dont exist! but ill have a look!!
