Default RS1800 low down speed

I have had mine for 4 years and it is a superb allround car, the engine is quiet and bomb proof and has never let me down. Performance wise it is at its best on the motorway, from 5th at 70mph it really pulls hard and if you drop to 4th it is rapid. However its 0-60 is perhaps its only weak point and I even miss the kick my XR2 used to have through 1st & 2nd gear. Could I improve this with a power boost valve (what is one and where does it go) and a superchip, I have replaced the filter with a performance one and I don't want to add cone filter as I want the engine to look original.
cheers

Take a look at the following link from www.rs1800.com about Power Boost Valves, includes some pics of how to fit.

Wouldn't bother with an FSE power boost valve they do next to bugger all. I'd start off with a rolling road run to make sure you are making standard power and that there are no faults. From there I would sort the breathing by fitting a K&N induction kit and a proper exhaust system (Magnex, Scorpion etc) from there a get the ECU chipped. I beleive you can fit the throttle body off a Mondeo 2 litre but not 100% certain of the exact benefits of this.

thanks for replies and info, I have a Mongoose exhaust from the cat back, this is fairly quiet and didn't reveal any more response as I thought it might, a bit more top end maybe, I think the Mongoose is more of a direct replacement as it has the same two rear boxes and is a perfect fit thus less emphasis on extra bhp.

Wouldn't touch an FSE bore washer with a barge pole in a n/a application. (They are sometimes useful for a turbo I guess).
The spec of your car sounds identical to mine, except my zorst is a magnex. This is how it came, so I can't make comparisons to standard, but I'm dead happy with the performance.
I'd be interested in what gains can be had from the chipping route as this can only possibly adjust the timing and fueling maps I would have thought. I've seen a few places offering a chipping service for the RS, so at least you wont be stuck for choice.
