Default Clutch pedal problem

Every now and then I press the pedal and I hear a crack, sounds lime pedal caught on trim, but there's no trim! If you release pedal it goes back to normal or sometimes slips a bit. Any idea why? Sometimes on releasing it makes lime a ratcheting noise too.

As above, replace it or do the mk6 pedal conversion and do away with the ratchet mechanism, they go for a pastime!

Difficult is probably the wrong word.....it's a very fiddly awkward job to do as you're on your back with very poor access, i've done mine so many times now i can almost do it without swearing more than once lol.
Make sure you remember where all the bushes/washers go when you remove the old one or have access to a haynes manual

will any mk6 clutch pedal do the job?

I've had to do the ratchet replacement once before, and that was enough since the bar which goes through all pedals had mushroomed on the end and wouldnt come out!

My mate drove from manchester to blackpool without using clutch cause of it.

Does the mk6 pedal have a bolt to move the quadrant instead of a spring and ratchet? If so i'm gonna fit that while my car is stripped since it sounds like a bulletproof replacement.

I got a mobile clutch specialist to replace the ratchet on my pedal using a helix uprated clutch and feels really good. Took him less than an hour and about £10 for the ratchet.
