Default Race cars for sale recently, which would you prefer?

The AG built "charlie shaw focos":
http://www.motorsportads.com/race-ca...ars/19052.html

Or the Zen Imprezza for 15K less:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1380233.htm

I 'prefer' the focos, but must admit if it was my money I would probably go for the scooby just because it manages to be just as quick as the Focos (in fact quicker than charlies one IIRC) but without needing so many expensive parts on it (gearbox at a tenth of the price etc)

What do other people think?

Subaru, jokes aside a far better package and at that money its a steal.

I've always said I would love to own Andrews car but when you consider what you could have for what I guess he'll sell it for then you have to look about a little.

If your a 110% Ford nut though there possibly isn't a better car to be pedaling round a track.

Not sure mate, havent seen it for sale, its charlie's one that is up for 60K, I assume cause he wants to buy AG's one, and they have probably discussed the price in private, but maybe one of them will come on here and say what that figure is if they want it in the public domain.

Not sure which way around you meant it?

Yeah he mentioned at TOTB he wanted to get back into rallying as soon as he could, hardly surprising given his family heritage in that particular sport

If you like the focos looks, and looks are what you think is important in a race car, then that makes sense in that context I guess mate

Chip wasnt the Zen car allways driven by a pro driver? I know Charlie is a good driver but its not his job is it? Also at Snetty they had to back the power off on the Zen car, has this issue been fixed has a new engine been installed.

Now i am not in a possision to buy either so it doesnt really matter tbh.

Nash, I believe the problem with the old engine was oil surge, and they then moved to a drysump setup, cant comment beyond that though as dont know the details.

I would imagine the zen car does have a new engine, when I saw it at TA brands it threw a rod and set fire to the engine bay. Plus when ag set the quickest lap at the next TA event didn't the guy that owns the zen car come on here saying the car had just been rebuilt and hadn't finished mapping?

You should be able to, based on the last couple of years their prices have been more stable than houses have

Charlies for me. Probably because i've seen it first hand more often than the Zen car and everytime it does the business.

Chip, do you know something we dont when you say the Charlie Shaws car is more expensive to maintain than the Zen car?

If anything the Zen car is marginally faster but it was driven by a pro driver in the TA series, where as charlie is just a milkman of sorts

So focus would be my choice

Only if you dont know things like Charlie is on a FFD gearbox and the Zen one can manage still on an OEM 6 speed worth a tenth as much for example.
The Imprezza OEM drivetrain (if you pikc the right year/model donor) is strong enough in standard form for serious use, and available for peanuts, so is cheaper to maintain for that reason.

Agreed, it appears that way, although like mentioned it probably could attribute some of that speed to the pro driver, so they are much of a muchness performance wise I suspect.

I think last season it was a guy called Tom Ferrier, he drove a seat in the BTCC the year before also a guy called Matt Allison also drove it once or twice, he drove a chevrolet in the BTCC last year aswell.

It's a quality car though. Personally i've nothing against using pro drivers if the team wants to, at the end of the day the better you do the better rep/namespread your business gets, or the business you advertise on the car.

thats a tough choice both the focus and evo beat the scoob on looks but at the price the scoob is a bargain, but if it was me then it would be the focus without a doubt it just looks so right
