about 22 stitches all in all, they had to cut open my thumb in a Z shaped to get to the tendon damage . the tendon was 80% severed and the palm of my hand was also flapping in the wind with nerve damage inside, 6 weeks in a fibreglass arm/hand casting . the little 1 inch cut below my thumb caused more damage than the big cut and was the reason of the other side of my thumb needing cut open, its not that clear but it also sliced through my thumbnail twice ....and all from a plastic fan blade....

thats well savage m8,how did you manage to do that then? my hand slipped when removing a rad the other day,and the rad dug into my hand, felt like 5 razor blades going into my hand at once, but nothing compared to yours mate,i was left with a weird rat scratch like tattoo under my skin as i think oil got under the skin.
have they said youl have to go to hand class?

i felt the blades thudding into my hand but theyre hard brittle plastic so a couple snapped leaving ragged sharp edges to get me on the next turn...
its not my main hand so i was back at work the day after the operation.thats the joys of being self employed.i get the stitches out next friday and the cast off in another 4 weeks then its physio classes i think.

the odd thing is theres been very little pain, the adrenaline at the time stops you feeling anything and as i was out with a general anaesthetic for the op i woke up in recovery with the job done. i whacked it with a hammer at work yesterday and it throbbed as youd normally expect but no more .
the fan wasnt running at the time but i had just driven my ebay purchase home and it was hot . the fan hadnt been cutting in as it should and the temp was running high. the key was in the half turn position to hear the radio as i worked as the fan cut in at the wrong moment.
lesson learned, always disconnect the battery when working in the engine bay.

Fucking hell mate
did a proper number on that one!!
I have two scars on my arm from when I was working on a mates Rover P6, was idling the engine and messing with the carb screws when I dropped the screwdriver, reached down to pick it back up and burnt the top of my arm on an exhaust (another scar for that one) and in the process pulled my hand back out of instinct and jamed the other side in the belt driven fan

Hope it all heals well with no lasting damage. On an upside (if you could call it one), the scar on your palm is like a proper 'pirate' scar, is well cool.
Drop the fan part and exagerate the plastic blade bit. You've got the makings for a fine story there

i was wondering if it was the work experience trainee that did the cut and stitch on my thumb. theres obviously a proper medical reason they cut it in a Z shape rather than a straight cut from top to bottom.

my god I feel sick!!
