Just home from Croft at 6.30pm.As you know I travell over from Dublin. On Friday evening around 5pm on the A59 near Broughton,my trailer snapped 3 of its studs on one of the wheels, leaving us stranded on the side of the road.So I rang the only 2 people in England who I have on my mobile,Marco and Tony (Nuts RuS).Both are a 200 miles or more from my stranded spot, but Marco sent me numbers of other people off Passionford nearer to my location who could help.We managed to get big bolts and nuts from a Massey Fergusion dealer and get ourselves going again.Tony rang me a little while after I called him to see how we were getting on,we was back on the move thankfully.Tony offered to get us trailer to get the car home from Croft on Sunday, which wasnt needed but was a nice offer.
Now we turn to Saturday, and off course my car fails on noise. In steps the Cleveland group to lend me a large tin, wadding, steel wool and a drill. Each item being donated by a different lad.Fitted it up and we pass the noise test!!
But in the 2nd session the diff starts to make funny noises. We traced it down to the inner CV coming out of the gearbox due to incorrect camber adjustment(bloody local tyre place did it,wrong!!).Anyhow I asked Jamie from Jamsport,a lad Ive never talked to before for advice. Now he was in the middle of putting up his marque at the time. But he stopped immediately and told me what to do,lent me a camber guage, and tracked the car with a tape measure. It worked out spot on!!
To all the above people,I'd like to thank them in public for really getting me out of some holes. It's difficult sometimes to get yourself out of trouble when out of your home country, but these people selflessly gave me materials, time and advice when I needed it.
To all,THANKS VERY MUCH

Regards,Micky

Hi Micky, I was one of the Cleveland members who helped you out and was glad to see you get through the noise test. I was driving the fiesta in the next garage. Your car looked to be going well all weekend even with a mega restrictive bean tin silencer lol.
Too many posts.. I need a life!!

Good to see Pf solving the problems again.
I've never seen or known so much help and advice to be given, mainly completely free of charge, to people you don't even personally know.

hi micky glad you got home safely was good to catch up , there was a really good atmosphere in the pit garages this year with everyone mucking in to help with noise problems and with tools being lent out left right and centre to make sure everyone on track stayed there.

Hi Dave, car went really well once the camber problem was fixed. And I know the weather was cool, but my water temp never went over 100C.This I frimly believe is because I've refitted my intercooler the same as you,as you already know. Now I know I really need a hot 25C day to truely find out,but I'm very very pleased with the temps reached at Croft. So I'd like to thank you again for the advice AND pictures you have given me.My next trackday in Britian will be Nat Day,form sent off already!!So see you there hopefully! All the best,Micky
Good to meet you & share a pit garage with you Micky - thanks for the bits & pieces I borrowed off you mate - much appreciated.
Hope you get a camera sorted for some footage soon - your car was going well this weekend.
As has been said before - the atmosphere in the garages was excellent - good to see people helping each other out - its definately what its all about.

Normally mate - the net doesn't help you out at track days - normally the bloke next to you in the garage - you TALK to him face to face

Just a quick post,On Saturday night while having food,my da & my mate Dave plus myself talked about how much help we got from people I know from Passionford and from doing RS trackdays over the previous 24 hrs.We felt both humbled and gratefull for all their help. And from reading all the goodwill posts on this topic,it only increase's my belief that I've met loads of truely decent people who are into the FORD RS scene.Us 3 Irish lads look forward to getting to Nat Day in Sept and Croft next year to hook up with you all again.Again, thanks very much to all!!!

Nice to see you there again Micky. Noise was the biggest concern for some in our group, thats why there was so much stuff there to bung them up. But as it happened everyone passed.
Best one was Paul Linfoots RS500 from a 101db to a 1.1 pop. Bri's end can work of art did the job.
I'm tempted to do Nat Day as it will be the only other track day for the year.
