Default Parking ticket, wrong reg?

The other half got a parking ticket the other day (she thought sh'e put enough in the machine but one of the coins must have come out so she only got half hour rather than one hour). Just looked at the ticket and they dont have the reg correct. Hers is **54 *** but the ticket just shows *54 ***, so the first letter is missing. Where do we stand? How will they trace the car if they dont know its reg or do they always take pictures now? Technically that ticket isnt for this car as its the wrong reg so Im thinking F*** it and leave it. Anyone know the legal script??
thanks
Stephen

No way of tracing you without a full reg number, and if they do the ticket is void as it has been incorrectly issued

they have nothing on you at all. I had a similar experience, got a ticket by a copper for being parked in a no parking zone, you couldnt read the reg number because his writing was soooo bad. got off scott free

Don't pay it. If they do end up finding you and posting a notice to owner to your home address, appeal and say they got they reg of the car wrong on the original PCN notice therefore the original PCN is therefore null and void as it is totally inaccurate.

most of the time they wudnt follow it up to be honest. ive recieved one about 8 months ago. screwed it up threw it in the bin,,,, plus theres no "time plates" in that area as well as there is no T-bar on the line there for making the line unenforcable as well as the fact the parking attendent cockerd up the penalty code n didnt obseve the car for 10 mins...

I threatened to get the local papers involved or they get the ticket for Ł150 in 1p coins which equates to 150,000 penny coins....

A Copper wrote me a producer many years ago and put G86 COO on the producer when my reg was G86 BOO. I went to Court and pointed it out, the judge threw it out after the Copper involved was proved wrong (Showed him a picture of the car with correct reg).

Ticket is a legal document, legal documents have to be correct, otherwise they don't count.
Plod can trace ANY car even with part reg, as computer system looks for alternate numbers + letters that fit description, so if you were the only one local they would go round and see the car for identyfying features etc, if it were serious enough but this isn't of course.
famous case of a man wheelying his bike past speed cams years ago hid part of plate, thought he was ok, idiot rode one of THREE bikes of that sort as was a BMW special, of the other two 1 was in bits, 1 was out of the country, he lived 2 miles away from camera, distinguishing fatures unique to his bike gave it away when inspected, ie bits he had added, he was succesfully prosecuted, and banned and fined.

The parking warden (civil enforcement officer as their called round here) take a picture of the car, of the parking ticket being out of date, and of the ticket that they have issued you.
